Speak not at all.
[He wishes he did-] n’t
[Know the secret mean-] ing.
[He wishes it was-] n’t
[Painf’lly clear to him,] so
[He puts on to solve] the
[Myst’ries, but in re-] verse.
Nobody wants to hear about someone else’s dream, be it good or bad. Or they do, but they’re only lending their ear to hear what they want to hear.
[Don’t worry over] words,
[It’s just a dream he] had
[Lost. Up in bed, fight-] ing
[To cling to its mem’-] ry.
[He’s tossing and turn-] ing,
[Afraid to let go.]
He never saw a wild thing sorry for itself. He wants to turn his back on himself. He’s walking backwards atop the footprints he made before; something he got from a book, a tome. All we want is to believe magic is real. He wants to cheat and is determined to. Yes, just because he’s up doesn’t mean he’s awake. No, not quite yet. Without being roused, his dream continues to unfold in front of, or I should say behind, him.
[Without his kinks, sure-] ly
[The crook would still’ve] been
[Strai⎯⎯⎯⎯ght.]
[He’s im⎯patient.]
[Had he ⎯ not been,]
[He would not have been]
[Who he is; ⎯⎯]
[⎯⎯⎯ a twin,]
[A poor replacement.]
Does he look the sort of person who lets go? He knows what’s coming to him. He’s going to burn, and it’s to last forever. Yes, he knows everything. But do you think he’ll let go?
[No, he’d rather start]
[From the ⎯ middle.]
[To lie from the heart.]
[So he took to wheel-] ing
[Deals with the Devil,]
[To bring on his will.]
[To be paid in kind.]
[Made, a deal’s a deal.]
[Yes, all in due time.]
[Yes, soon all too real.]
[Made his bed most frail,]
[But lie down he will.]
[He still thinks that it]
[Will maybe go a-] way
[If he ignores it]
[Enou⎯⎯⎯gh.]
[But the tongue always] goes
[There where the tooth was.]
[Stops and thinks, unsure.]
[He knows he’s not get-] ting
[The who⎯le picture.]
[That maybe he’s wrong.]
[That things aren’t so bad,]
[That he should just go] and
[Take a big step back] and
[Have a good look up-] on
[The hole he’d fallen] in
[Countless times before.]
Failing to look behind him.
[He wishes he did]
[Not remember that]
[He is his mistakes,]
[Holding his eyes shut.]
[Some of his days are]
[Good, ⎯⎯ some bad,]
[But it’s always there,]
[No matte⎯r what.]
[It hangs over him:] some-
[Thing he can count on.]
[There is a certain] com-
[Fort in things that haunt,]
[That don’t go away,]
[Be it good or bad.]
He can’t stand to see everything ending. He enjoyed being the house home to ghosts. He never woke up to that it’s in fact him being ignored out of existence.
[Leaving home he had]
[Not considered that]
[He wouldn’t ever get]
[Ba⎯⎯⎯⎯ck.]
Now, where has he gone?
Down, down, down.
